Did you know that the Australian government Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) covers eligible children for up to $1000 worth of Dental treatment? You may already have received a letter from Medicare advising you of your child’s eligibility or give us a call and we can easily check your eligibility with Medicare (they don’t make us wait as long on the line, it’s much quicker so we’ll happily do it for you!).
The Australian government Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) covers eligible children for full check-ups and any necessary treatment or dental emergencies. You just need to have your Medicare card handy for us to check your eligibility. You will also be happy to know that we fully BULK BILL eligible children with no out of pocket costs to you.
CDBS covers eligible children for the recommended 6 monthly Check-ups and cleans if necessary. CDBS will also cover any necessary x-rays, fillings, extractions and root canals. Your child will also be covered for any dental emergencies like a cracked tooth following an accident in the playground or at sport or sudden pain from a tooth cavity.
But if there is no Emergency and there is no pain, should I still bring my kids for a Check-up?
It is important to bring your children in for regular check-ups to create a life time of good habits. And it’s virtually free under the CDBS scheme. Most importantly we can check for any early problems and prevent them from becoming bigger issues.
At your child’s dental appointment at LDC, your dentist will check the health of your Child’s teeth and gums, discuss Oral hygiene with your child, detect any early problems and discuss how nutrition might contribute to Oral Health problems. Our Dentists will take the time to discuss any concerns you might have and advise you on whether your child might benefit from any Orthodontic treatment.
You will be happy to know that we have plenty of tools and ideas on how to make your child’s first Dental visit fun. We are also very good at making anxious children comfortable and cooperative. Over the years we have seen plenty of kids who have had previous unpleasant experiences at another Dental Surgery and we manage to turn this around by providing a very positive, no rush experience! We always make sure we explain everything first, not just to you but to your child as well, in a way your child can understand. Most importantly we get your child’s consent (as well as yours of course) before we start a procedure. Because we believe each child deserves the same respect that we afford an adult as Dr Seuss famously wrote “a person’s a person no matter how small”!
Please note that Orthodontic treatment is excluded from this scheme but any cleans, x-rays or fillings associated with Orthodontic treatment will be covered.
